Ready to keep the heart of production beating?

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support our client’s existing maintenance engineering team on an initial 3-6 month basis. This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the high-performance production lines.

In this hands-on role, you won t just fix things, you ll be at the center of driving performance, preventing breakdowns before they happen, and constantly improving the machines that power production.

What you ll be doing:

  • Providing technical expertise on maintaining a range of critical production equipment

  • Executing advanced preventative and breakdown maintenance to maintain peak line performance and product quality.

  • Managing product and size changeovers where needed.

  • Completing critical asset care tasks in line with the established maintenance plan

  • Using the Central Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record and monitor all activities.

  • Ensuring full QESH (Quality, Environmental, Safety & Hygiene) compliance through regular checks and immediate escalation of any non-conformities.

  • Taking part in Health & Safety risk assessments and promoting zero-accident culture.

  • Participating in effective shift handovers and team briefings to ensure seamless communication and operations.

Your background:

  • A time-served mechanical engineering apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3, or equivelent. Having both a Level 3 NVQ and relevant HNC/HND would be highly beneficial and preferable.

  • Strong hands-on experience in fast paced MFCG manufacturing environments.

  • Proven ability in fault-finding, handling complex breakdowns, and ensuring machinery availability.

  • Confidence in using asset care systems and planning tools like CMMS.

  • Previous experience in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment is a big plus.
