We have an exciting opportunity for an NMC Registered Adult, Paediatric, or Mental Health Nurse or Midwife to develop a career in Health Visiting within NHS Grampian. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have the capacity and desire to undertake the postgraduate MSc Advancing Practice Course – Health Visiting full time route.

We have three posts in Aberdeenshire (Garioch, Formartine and Buchan) and three posts in Aberdeen City (base to be decided on appointment).

Throughout the duration of the course, you will be embedded within the existing Health Visiting Team that delivers the Universal Health Visiting Pathway. You will work alongside experienced health visitors and the wider team to support you to develop and consolidate your academic learning into practice.

We are looking for candidates to enter the one year full time Robert Gordon University Advanced Practice Course, commencing September 2026.

As part of the RGU course students must complete 2 clinical placements to enable consolidation of academic and clinical learning as stipulated by the NMC. Therefore, all annual leave must be taken out with the clinical practice placement times.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • NMC Registered Adult, Paediatric or Mental Health Nurse or Midwife.
  • Ability to undertake the MSc Advancing Practice Course – Health Visiting.
  • Completion of 2 clinical placements as required by the NMC.

  • Location: Aberdeenshire (Garioch, Formartine and Buchan) or Aberdeen City (base confirmed on appointment).
  • Course start: September 2026.
  • Duration: 1 year full time.
  • Leave: All annual leave must coincide with placement times.
