Position

Lecturer – Pathways (Maternity Cover) to be based at the Thurso campus. The role spans further and higher education provision and is structured across the following areas, allowing for job sharing: Pathways to College and Employment and Pathways to Health, Education and Social Care. These access level programmes are designed for learners who have experienced barriers to engagement in mainstream education. The focus is on building confidence, resilience and independence through project based learning, core skills development and employability focused activities. The programmes support progression to further study, training or employment.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of learning, teaching and assessment within their subject areas of expertise and related fields of study. They will embrace nationally agreed professional standards for lecturers to ensure an excellent student experience with sustained engagement, high learner satisfaction and successful outcomes. The lecturer will report to the curriculum manager, support curriculum development, provide specialist advice and contribute to subject area review and evaluation. Lecturers will work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team within their subject areas, across both faculties within UHI North, West and Hebrides, and across the UHI partnership to provide a holistic approach to supporting every student to succeed alongside professional service staff.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • SCQF Level 7-12 qualification, normally above the level taught, in a relevant subject area.
  • Teaching qualification, preferably TQFE, PGDE or equivalent, or a Masters in Education.
  • Proven track record of effective planning to deliver engaging learning, teaching, assessment and supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, self motivated, enthusiastic, and able to problem solve and work independently.
  • Ability to speak Gaelic would be advantageous.

Employment Details

Salary: £41,833 – £50,359 per annum

Location: Thurso Campus

Working Hours: 17 hours, fixed term

Closing Date: 18th June 12pm
