Job Description

Scottish Government OGD Recruitment seeks a Head Veterinarian to lead the veterinary and technical leadership team delivering meat Official Controls across Scotland. The role provides strategic veterinary leadership to 100 field staff within Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and collaborates with external veterinary bodies and government departments.

The Head Veterinarian shapes veterinary policy, reports to FSS management and the Board, and leads publication of Official Controls guidance.
