Job Description

Instrumental Music Instructor – Upper Strings (Violin & Viola)

Multiple locations across Edinburgh. Salary: £36,687 – £48,762. Hours: 35 per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach upper strings lessons in various schools across Edinburgh, and be part of a dynamic and friendly music service. We are looking for a highly skilled Instrumental Music Instructor who is passionate and driven, to provide excellent learning experiences for all pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and small group lessons to students at upper string levels.
  • Prepare pupils for SQA and external examinations.
  • Lead and support school music ensembles and groups.
  • Plan and manage curriculum aligned with the current school programme.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in instrumental teaching of string instruments.
  • Sound knowledge of the current curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Experience working with school pupils, including groups and ensembles.

Safeguarding and Legal Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Employment will be conditional upon satisfactory pre employment checks.

Salary and Conditions

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
