Information Management Advisor (Contractor)

Location: Edinburgh City Centre

Employment Type: Contractor – min 1 year with potential to be extended

Rate: £400 per day (inclusive of agency fee)

Our valued client is seeking an experienced Information Management Advisor to support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of document and data management systems across a complex project environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced information management professional with strong document control, governance and systems administration expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, implement, administer, and manage Electronic Document and Data Management Systems (EDMS), including platforms such as SharePoint and similar solutions.
  • Manage system security, permissions and access controls in line with approved governance processes.
  • Ensure document management systems are efficient, effective, scalable and fit for future growth.
  • Facilitate user onboarding, training and ongoing support for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the upload and control of high volumes of project documentation and data.
  • Ensure robust document control procedures are followed for the creation, review, distribution, modification and archiving of information.
  • Provide quality assurance to ensure records, documents, and data comply with regulatory, governance and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate information management activities and support the successful delivery of project documentation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain document registers, reporting tools, and performance metrics.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of information and document management strategies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand information governance requirements and support process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance information governance, business processes and digital solutions.
  • Support document retention, storage, retrieval, preservation, and disposal processes in accordance with established policies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable and committed to delivering high quality outcomes.
  • Previous experience in document control, information management, quality, compliance or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience implementing, developing, and maintaining document and information management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint and other EDMS platforms.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience producing management reports, document registers and governance documentation.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting large scale projects or programmes.
  • Team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of information governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Relevant qualifications in Document Control, Information Management, Records Management or a related discipline.
