Salary: £47,389 – £58,225 per annum, pro rata

FTE: 0.4

Term: Fixed to 31 December 2026

Closing Date: 4 June 2026

Department: Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management

Following a successful first phase of Design HOPES, a major design led research project, we have attracted additional funding to move from research into reality for a portfolio of place based research, comprising a range of community and building focused interventions.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work closely with colleagues across the project ecosystem to develop pathways to impact, including new products, services, policies and organisational practices. The role requires a consistently high level of personal responsibility and initiative, excellent and persuasive communication skills, and the ability to work comfortably with a wide range of colleagues from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with colleagues across the project ecosystem to develop pathways to impact, including new products, services, policies and organisational practices.
  • Develop and implement impact strategies and activities that bridge the gap between research and implementation.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders and facilitate knowledge exchange.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in conducting research for impact and engagement and knowledge exchange with non academic stakeholders.
  • Background in architecture, design or similar disciplines, with experience in co design and facilitation.
  • Experience in the health sector and/or understanding of the net zero policy landscape.

Design HOPES is a collaborative design led research initiative comprising five Scottish universities – University of Strathclyde, University of Dundee, Heriot Watt University, Abertay University, and the University of Edinburgh – NHS Scotland, the third sector and design organisations.

The role may be suitable for secondments and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as part of the Future Observatory GTE Hub Programme at the Design Museum (grant number AH/Y00373X/1).
