HVHV Cables Lead for a major offshore wind project in the UK.
Responsibilities
The primary role of the Engineer: HV HVCables Lead shall be to advise on all relevant aspects of HV HVCable design for Onshore Export, Offshore Export and Inter Array Cables and other interfacing packages.
- Preparation of technical documents/papers for internal review.
- Preparation of employer’s requirements and technical specifications.
- Management of subconsultants ensuring that HSSE requirements are appropriately accounted for in the designs and that quality requirements are met.
- Review and critique of cables FEED scope and deliverables.
- Support to the project during the Detailed Design and Installation/Commissioning phase.
- Contribution to design interfaces including but not limited to cable installation, cable ratings analysis and electrical systems.
- Participation in technical discussions with external parties as required, e.g. consultants, suppliers, OEMs, installers, etc.
- Participation in project team meetings and cross-disciplinary co operation.
- Suggestions of alternative approaches/descriptions to add value to designs as required.
Requirements
- Experience in Cable Burial Risk Assessment (CBRA), cable protection, burial, routing and HDD installation.
- Understanding of cable ratings in different conditions, and potential impact on the overall design.
- Understanding of cable installation at the HDD, offshore and at the offshore substation.
- Understanding of design across the full project lifecycle from pre FEED to detailed design, installation and commission.
- Ability to carry out/participate in optioneering to obtain the most favourable outcomes/solutions.
