A leading food manufacturing business is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to take the lead in shaping and delivering the site s safety and sustainability strategy.

Role Overview

As HSE Manager, you ll lead health, safety, and environmental systems on-site, ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and driving a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

If you have a strong background in HSE management within manufacturing or FMCG, this role offers the chance to make a real impact across both site and group operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across the site.

  • Advise the General Manager and site leadership on compliance standards and HSE performance

  • Lead site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, implementing corrective and preventive measures as needed

  • Manage incident investigations, maintain accident records, and ensure statutory reporting is completed on time

  • Oversee fire safety compliance, including risk assessments, drills, and statutory documentation

  • Coordinate environmental compliance activities, including waste management, EPR permits, and sustainability reporting

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency, insurers, and enforcement authorities

  • Support training and awareness programmes to strengthen HSE knowledge and engagement across teams

  • Provide regular reports on health, safety, and environmental KPIs, ensuring alignment with group standards

Your Profile:

  • Proven experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental management role within manufacturing or FMCG

  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation, compliance standards, and audit requirements

  • NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualification (IOSH Managing Safely or higher preferred)

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage effectively across all levels

  • Strong organisational and analytical abilities with attention to detail

  • Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
