Job Description

We are working with the UK s leading pump solutions business seeking an experienced Hire Manager to take ownership of day to day hire operations within a busy branch environment in Wishaw.

This role is central to the smooth running of the branch, coordinating equipment movements, managing hire requests, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring customers receive a first class service every time.

It suits a confident Hire Manager who thrives in a fast paced environment and can balance logistics, commercial decisions and customer engagement with ease.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee logistics and transport scheduling, ensuring deliveries meet customer requirements and equipment is collected within agreed timeframes
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation and system records, replacing in lieu contracts immediately
  • Review all re hires and identify opportunities to replace equipment, liaising with the Branch Manager and Central Workshop
  • Lead the Hire Team in completing day books and transport books, ensuring all follow ups are actioned
  • Negotiate hire rates within company pricing structures and discount policies
  • Maintain accurate stock information so the branch can meet all hire demands
  • Work closely with operational teams across the area to coordinate resources and avoid duplication
  • Raise correct charges for damages and losses, liaising with customers and ensuring documentation is completed for finance
  • Pass all sales leads to the Sales Team and complete outbound calls to dormant accounts
  • Provide consistently positive customer service, building strong relationships and gathering feedback
  • Contribute ideas for business development and support branch and area profitability reviews
  • Ensure all SHEQ procedures are followed and accurate monthly asset checks are completed

Skills and Experience Required

  • Background in a Management or Supervisory role, within a hire desk or a similar environment
  • Demonstrable experience managing a busy hire desk with high volumes and tight deadlines
  • Experience within logistics, construction or water utilities is beneficial
  • Confident user of hire systems and software packages, with strong MS Office skills
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities
  • Strong organisational ability, able to respond quickly to changing hire needs
  • Excellent communication and customer handling skills, remaining calm under pressure
  • Strong negotiation and influencing ability with confidence to upsell or advise customers
  • Understanding of pump products and hire solutions is advantageous

Summary

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 to £46,000 including bonus and benefits

Start: Notice dependent
