Purpose of Role:
An experienced HGV Driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to our customers. As well as driving trucks and delivering goods, he/she will also be required to oversee the loading and off-loading of goods, cleaning and maintaining the truck, finding the best routes, and promoting the Mowi brand. To ensure success, he/she should have a clean driving record, a recent CPC, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience. The HGV driver will value honesty, dependability and ensure reliable logistics.
Key Areas:
- Inspecting, cleaning and refuelling the vehicle
- Safely transporting goods to and from distribution centres
- Obeying the rules of the road and following company safety regulations
- Finding the quickest and safest route to your destination
- Following accident procedures.
- Ability to drive long distances while maintaining focus
- Keep an activities log and log hours
- Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
- Carry out vehicle/equipment inspections on at least a daily basis and immediately report any actual or possible defects to your Line Manager
- Driving the HGV in a responsible manner to meet targets while complying with all current applicable road transport regulations at all times
- Comply with all legislation and the organisation’s requirements concerning the vehicle’s Tachograph (Digi or Manual)
- General activities including safe and legal loading, (e.g. not unbalanced/overloaded) and offloading, check all orders, delivery notes and associated documentation and obtain signatures as and when required and report any delivery discrepancies at the time of delivery
- Immediately inform Line Manager of any incidents involving you/your vehicle and/or if you are unable to perform tasks on time or at all (accident, traffic delays, etc)
- Assist Line Manager to make improvements and implement required changes
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, codes and legislation, including health and safety
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager
Qualifications:
- Valid Certificate of Professional Confidence (CPC)
Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience as a HGV driver
- Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
- Clean driving License
- Conducting minor roadside repairs on the truck
- Maintaining a good relationship with customers
Experience:
- Experience with goods handling preferred
- Experience with GPS navigation and mapping
