Job Description

Purpose of Role: An experienced HGV Driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to our customers. As well as driving trucks and delivering goods, he/she will also be required

Purpose of Role:

An experienced HGV Driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to our customers. As well as driving trucks and delivering goods, he/she will also be required to oversee the loading and off-loading of goods, cleaning and maintaining the truck, finding the best routes, and promoting the Mowi brand. To ensure success, he/she should have a clean driving record, a recent CPC, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience. The HGV driver will value honesty, dependability and ensure reliable logistics.

Key Areas:

  • Inspecting, cleaning and refuelling the vehicle
  • Safely transporting goods to and from distribution centres
  • Obeying the rules of the road and following company safety regulations
  • Finding the quickest and safest route to your destination
  • Following accident procedures.
  • Ability to drive long distances while maintaining focus
  • Keep an activities log and log hours
  • Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
  • Carry out vehicle/equipment inspections on at least a daily basis and immediately report any actual or possible defects to your Line Manager
  • Driving the HGV in a responsible manner to meet targets while complying with all current applicable road transport regulations at all times
  • Comply with all legislation and the organisation’s requirements concerning the vehicle’s Tachograph (Digi or Manual)
  • General activities including safe and legal loading, (e.g. not unbalanced/overloaded) and offloading, check all orders, delivery notes and associated documentation and obtain signatures as and when required and report any delivery discrepancies at the time of delivery
  • Immediately inform Line Manager of any incidents involving you/your vehicle and/or if you are unable to perform tasks on time or at all (accident, traffic delays, etc)
  • Assist Line Manager to make improvements and implement required changes
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, codes and legislation, including health and safety
  • Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager

Qualifications:

  • Valid Certificate of Professional Confidence (CPC)

Skills:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a HGV driver
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Clean driving License
  • Conducting minor roadside repairs on the truck
  • Maintaining a good relationship with customers

Experience:

  • Experience with goods handling preferred
  • Experience with GPS navigation and mapping
