HGV Class 2 Driver / Depot Support Operative
Location: Edinburgh West
Rate of Pay: 15.53 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday – 36 hours per week
Duration: Initial 6 months (with strong potential for extension or permanent role)
Holidays: Up to 33 days per year

This role offers a blend of hands-on driving, depot support, vehicle preparation, and essential administrative tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Drive & Deliver: Safely collect and deliver vehicles (up to 26 tonnes) across various client sites in Edinburgh.
- Maintain the Fleet: Inspect vehicles, coordinate repairs, and liaise with external suppliers and contractors regarding warranties and hires.
- Depot Operations: Assist with depot housekeeping, refuelling, plant/vehicle movement, and general facilities maintenance.
- Vehicle & Stock Prep: Support vehicle preparation, washing, defect reporting, and material stock control.
- Admin Support: Update internal systems, maintain records, input data, and manage material requests efficiently.
Health & Safety Focus: Follow strict procedures while working with hazardous materials, heavy plant, and in outdoor conditions.

What We’re Looking For:
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
- CPC Card & Digital Tachograph
- Strong admin and IT skills – Microsoft Excel/Word; confident working with internal systems
- Basic mechanical awareness – able to identify and report defects
- Great communication skills – work with internal teams, clients, and suppliers
- A safety-first mindset with good problem-solving and organisational skills
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather, lift heavy items, and assist with manual handling
Desirable: Experience working in a local authority depot, fleet services, or vehicle maintenance support.
