Role Overview
We are looking for a Health Visitor to join the Children and Families Health Visiting service in East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The role requires a live NMC UK pin.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Milngavie Clinic, working across the local authority area.
- Contract: Permanent, Part time (22.5 hours per week).
- Shift pattern: Core 08:30-16:30 for three days a week, with flexibility for alternative days.
- Salary: Pro rata for part time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership across professional and organisational teams, focusing on audit, quality improvement, and service development.
- Undertake statutory duties on behalf of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde for children in your caseload to assess, improve, and support wellbeing.
- Work with all professionals, families, and stakeholders to assess, analyse, develop, and agree a multi agency child’s plan based on policy and procedures; implement and monitor the plan to ensure needs are met.
- Partner with children’s families and other agencies to ensure responsibilities within the agreed plan are fulfilled.
- Maintain effective written and verbal communication with families/carers and multidisciplinary team members, following NMC guidelines and legislation.
- Support NHS Scotland’s values of quality, teamwork, care and compassion, dignity and respect, openness, honesty and responsibility through appropriate behaviours and attitudes.
Qualifications, Training, and Experience
- Knowledgeable in caseload management, child protection, working with families presenting with complex needs, and health improvement work.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to work within a team and independently.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and a qualification in Health Visiting or Public Health Nursing.
- Registered nurse or midwife at degree level or equivalent.
- Post registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing or equivalent.
- Educated to Master’s level in a relevant nursing area, or equivalent knowledge gained through accredited modules.
- Demonstrated proficiency in legislation relating to information sharing, data storage and public protection.
- Knowledge of health and social care pathways related to safeguarding, early intervention and protection.
- Experience using a strength based approach with families.
- Ability to use assessment tools for referral decisions.
- Management of risks using critical thinking for effective decision making.
- Provide professional advice within a multi agency setting, prioritising children’s safety.
- Lead discussions and decisions based on assessment of complex situations.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, service standards and improvements.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
