Geotechnical Director Glasgow

Tony Gee and Partners is currently recruiting for an Associate Director to lead our Geotechnics team based in Glasgow. This is a full-time role which will require rounded skills in technical design, project delivery, people management and work winning within a successful office serving multiple sectors in the Scottish and wider UK construction market.

The candidate should have a proven track record in delivering geotechnical design including working within multidisciplinary design teams across sectors. This should include preparation of desk studies, ground investigations, interpretative reporting and design of earthworks, bridges, foundations, slopes and other geotechnical structures. Experience of Design and Build contracts and working with contractors is essential, with temporary works design experience desirable. Demonstrable experience of the successful management and financial control of projects is also required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills required to win new work through fostering strong client relationships. The candidate must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills for implementing on multiple projects with varied teams, and enthusiastic about providing guidance and mentoring of less experienced staff. The role would suit a dynamic individual with a desire to grow and develop a team whilst embedding technical excellence on projects.

Geotechnical team lead in Glasgow

Technical delivery lead and/or project director for geotechnical projects and lead geotechnical engineering design teams

To contribute to Glasgow Office strategic goals including work winning, delivering projects and skills development

To work with senior management in other offices to support wider business strategic goals

To develop the Glasgow geotechnical team structure and lead the line management of staff within the team

To support less experienced staff, sharing knowledge and acting as a coach/mentor

To develop long-term working relationships with key clients

To proactively seek out geotechnical design work and target standalone geotechnical projects

To promote the use of digital tools in ground engineering and geotechnical engineering design

To understand and follow business and industry QA processes

Qualifications:

Chartered Engineer with MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering or similar

Specialist Geotechnical qualification, e.g. MSc or similar is desirable
