About the Role
As Gardener, you will play a vital role within our maintenance team, taking responsibility for the care, design, and upkeep of our extensive grounds. You will ensure that all outdoor areas are maintained to the highest standards year-round, creating a welcoming and visually impressive environment for our guests.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining lawns, flower beds, hedges, and borders across the estate
- Carrying out seasonal planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching
- Operating and maintaining gardening equipment (mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers)
- Supporting landscaping projects and new garden designs
- Ensuring all pathways and outdoor areas are safe, clean, and guest-ready
- Monitoring plant health and applying treatments where necessary
- Coordinating with the wider hotel team around events and guest needs
- Assisting with winter duties such as snow clearing and gritting
- Maintaining greenhouses, water features, and ornamental spaces
- Following all health & safety and environmental best practices
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about horticulture and takes pride in creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a gardener (hotel or estate experience desirable)
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, seasonal planting, and landscape care
- Experience using a range of gardening tools and machinery
- A proactive, hands on approach with strong attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced environment
- Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Horticulture (desirable)
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
