Role Overview

The MWD/LWD Field Specialist is responsible for operating downhole telemetry and formation evaluation tools that provide real-time measurements during drilling. This role is critical for directional drilling accuracy and subsurface evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, test, and deploy MWD/LWD tools for drilling operations
  • Monitor real-time downhole data (directional surveys, gamma, resistivity, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate transmission of measurements via mud pulse or other telemetry systems
  • Troubleshoot tool failures and optimize tool performance
  • Provide directional and formation data to drilling and geoscience teams
  • Assist with well placement and geosteering decisions
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with Baker Hughes standards
  • Produce technical reports and post-run analyses

Typical Profile

  • Technical diploma or degree in engineering, physics, electronics, or similar field
  • Strong mechanical and electronic troubleshooting capability
  • Experience in drilling services, directional drilling, or field operations preferred
  • Ability to work under demanding rig site conditions and rotational schedules
