Our early intervention substance support service works across Lewis and Harris with young people aged 9 18 years, who are identified as having been under the influence of alcohol or a substance and/or using substances or alcohol regularly. We also work with children or young people who are affected by a family member or someone close to them who uses substances or alcohol.
We aim to provide support and assistance to those who are not currently heavily involved with statutory agencies where possible, working with whole families to reduce the harms associated with drug and alcohol use. We collaborate with local statutory and non statutory agencies to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. We provide regular individual harm reduction based 1:1 sessions on drugs and alcohol, support around triggers, alternative coping strategies, abstinence and relapse management, and a person centred approach to address issues affecting well being such as family issues, education difficulties, community problems, mental health, trauma or loss.
