Job Description

Overview

Teach South is looking for a full time EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Teaching Assistant to support young children in a primary school in Newhaven, East Sussex, from September 2026. This term time role pays £14.24 to £15 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and creative learning activities.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to promote learning and development.
  • Encourage children’s social, emotional and communication skills.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with observations, assessments and classroom preparation.
  • Provide personal care support where required, in line with school policies.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children in an EYFS setting.
  • Possesses a relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • A nurturing, patient, and positive approach.
  • Works well as part of a team and uses personal initiative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Holds or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Has the right to work in the UK.
