Multi-Skilled Electrical Engineer Hydrogen & Electric Vehicles
Aintree, Liverpool (occasional UK & overseas travel)

Were looking for a hands-on R&D Engineer with strong automotive electrical experience and a background in multi-skilled engineering to join our growing team working on hydrogen and battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles.
This role isnt just about electrics youll get involved in electrical, mechanical, and hybrid systems integration across a wide range of prototype and development projects. Perfect for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being part of projects at the cutting edge of vehicle technology.
What youll be doing
- Designing and building prototype systems from wiring harnesses to mechanical assemblies
- Developing hybrid hydrogen-electric powertrains for heavy-duty vehicles
- Hands-on installation, testing, and validation of components and systems
- Setting up and configuring CAN-based control systems
- Collecting and analysing performance data to improve designs
- Working across disciplines electrics, mechanics, controls, and integration
- Collaborating with partners, suppliers, and customers in the UK and abroad
What were looking for
- Electrical / Automotive Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification (IMI/NVQ Level 3+ considered with relevant experience)
- Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems and vehicle architecture
- Practical experience with both electrical and mechanical component integration
- Strong understanding of systems such as batteries, BMS, inverters, motor controllers, thermal management
- Ability to read and produce wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Comfortable in an R&D environment building, testing, and iterating prototypes
- Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
Bonus if you have:
- R&D experience in EV, motorsport, or hydrogen
- ISO 26262 functional safety knowledge
- 3D CAD skills
- A real passion for clean-tech and future mobility
