Base Location: Dingwall Contin Workshop

Salary: SS04 £34,749 – £40,939 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Role Overview

SSE Hydro Generation operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our hydro generation assets. We currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based in the Conon Hydro area.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Electrical maintenance activities but also mechanical & civil maintenance activities within your competence.
  • Working closely with other maintenance personnel in day-to-day defect rectification, repair work and designated project work.
  • Carrying out routine inspections and checks to ensure our equipment and fixed plant is kept to a high standard of operational effectiveness.
  • Reporting operational defects as they arise, carrying out risk assessments, plus environmental and safety inspections. Training will be provided in the operation of fixed Generation plant.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds or equivalent craft apprenticeship certificates.
  • An electrical or multi-skilled craftsperson background, preferably accompanied with previous experience of working on heavy rotating machinery.
  • A flexible and practical approach to your workload, accompanied with excellent communication skills, as you will be liaising closely with members of the public and a variety of other internal and external stakeholders.
  • A high degree of computer literacy, as you will be required to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software, along with other company software applications for which training will be given.
  • Due to the nature of the role you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out of normal working hours when required.
  • A full valid UK driving licence is essential, and a first aid qualification would be advantageous.
  • Applicants should ideally reside or be prepared to relocate to within 30 miles of Contin.
