We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled nurse to join our Medical Centre team, based within the Allardice Centre. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide expert medical care and advice to students throughout the School. The Medical Centre is an integral part of our sector-leading pastoral care. Person Specification

Essential

• Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
• Hold a minimum of 2 years’ experience in any 2 of the nursing areas below:
• 1. General practice
  2. A&E
  3. Pediatrics
  4. Mental health
  5. Sports and trauma
  6. Vaccination Teams
  7. Public Health (School Nursing/Health Visiting)
• Familiar with Child Protection and Safeguarding Governance (GIRFEC, Child protection/safeguarding legislation).
• Have experience of working with children and young people.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and accurate record keeping skills.
• Compassionate, caring and empathetic.
• Have experience of medicine management, in line with NMC Guidelines, and the ability to share this knowledge across the wider school.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the various mental health challenges affecting children and young people.
• Have the ability to use clinical judgement relating to maintaining student confidentiality.
• Have a sound knowledge of health promotion in areas affecting children and young people.
• Experienced in the use of Microsoft 365 and Teams/Zoom.

Desirable

• Have experience of working in a community / school nursing environment.
• Experienced in the use of iSams and familiar with Return2Play Guidelines.
• Hold professional qualifications in other areas:
• 1. Sports injuries
  2. Counselling / mental health
  3. School Nurse/community nursing
  4. Venipuncture
• Display strong presentation skills and the ability to lead health promotion / education / training sessions for students, parents and staff.
• Have a good understanding of Gillick Competence.

Package Description

• Salary – Around £39,000 (depending on experience)

• Working Arrangements: The role is term time. The team work shifts, following a 4-week rolling rota (39 hours per week). The role holder will be required to work shifts of varying lengths (rotas include both short and long shifts) and 2 weekends per month. 6 weeks paid holidays (taken during school holidays).
