Dream Salaried GP Job – Wallace Medical Centre

Urgent

Job Description

Wallace Medical Centre, 254 Thornhill Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AZ

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join us at Wallace Medical Centre. We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic 4-6 session salaried GP to complement our existing team of 6 GPs, enhancing our team for the long-term stability of the practice. We are a sociable team, and all get on really well.

We have a list size of approximately 8500 patients. Wallace Medical Centre is situated in the centre of Falkirk and is part of Falkirk Town Cluster. The Practice is easy to get to from the nearby motorways.

One of the key benefits to working at Wallace Medical Centre is that the Doctors work well within the recommended BMA guidelines for safe practice. We are able to do this while still catering to the needs of our patients. The surgeries comprise of 10 patients per session plus 2 morning slots that are only bookable by that doctor for quick catch up appointments. There would be up to 2 housecalls per day but it is rare that we have any more than 2-3 house calls per day overall. It would be unusual for any doctor to have to do more than 1 housecall per day. We cap our urgent demand at a sustainable level, and no appointments will be added to surgeries after we become “full for the day”. We offer 15 minute appointments in the clinics. Our duty doctor days are not arduous. There is proportion of protected time in the afternoon session. We have daily coffee meetings with a weekly practice meeting and monthly MDT / Palliative Care Meetings.

We have an excellent, friendly and keen administrative team supporting our work in signposting each appointment made. Our experienced Practice Nurse is retiring later in the year, and we have recruited a new practice nurse and excited to have her integrate in our team. Through PCIP, we have an ANP and PCMHN along with our Pharmacotherapy Team. Our CTAC service works from Falkirk Community Hospital nearby. Our District Nurses work from within our building creating an effective working environment and ease of communication. We also have one session of DWP advice working from within our practice.

Throughout term time, we have 4 th or 5 th year medical students from The University of Dundee. When supervising students our clinics are slightly reduced to accommodate some teaching time within them.

Our partnership owned premise has current plans in place to renovate inside our building to create more consulting rooms to accommodate our clinical team.

We offer 7 weeks of annual leave per year plus pro rata public holidays.

The vacant position at Wallace Medical Centre qualifies for a Golden Hello subject to the conditions in the Statement of Financial Entitlement and salary will be negotiable and competitive based on previous experience.

We would welcome informal visits to look around our practice and our working environment.
