Overview
Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) has combined NHS National Services Scotland and NHS Education for Scotland to form a new organization focused on continuity and sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
The Post
Deliver direct care to donors throughout the donation process of blood and blood products, ensuring donor support through a high level of clinical/customer care. Work to agreed clinical and quality standards and procedures using accurate data input to safeguard donor and patient safety. Responsible for safe transportation of staff and equipment to various geographical locations for mobile donating sessions and perform & monitor venepunctures to obtain donations and samples in accordance with nationally approved procedures.
Applicants should note that driving an HGV is a only part of the role; the majority of weekly hours is made up by performing donor carer duties (assisting donors and performing collection duties).
The Candidate
We are looking for a donor carer driver to join our existing team of staff who provide a high standard of care to our donors. You should be friendly, enjoy meeting people and be willing to work as part of a team. You will transport staff and equipment, and although based within the Aberdeen Collection Team, you must have a sound knowledge of the geography of the region as extensive travel throughout the region is required.
You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours include Monday-Sunday and regular late evenings.
A ‘C’ licence (for a goods vehicle in excess of 7.5 tonnes) with current and valid CPC is required.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern
The location is Aberdeen Blood Donor Centre, Foresterhill Road Aberdeen.
The work pattern is Monday Sunday, 28 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post in which you will be employed.
