2020 Recruitment are working with one of our Engineering clients who are looking to add a Deburr Technician to their team in Glenrothes.

This is a permanent contract working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (days).

Job Summary

The Deburr Technician will be running a series of rumbling and vibrating deburring machines, degreasing and polishing then checking components against engineering drawings and then transferring the components to the anodising process

Key Responsibilities

  • Deburring and Finishing:
    • Remove burrs, sharp edges, and other imperfections from machined parts using hand tools, power tools, grinders, or sandblasters.
    • Perform polishing, buffing, and smoothing tasks to ensure parts meet quality and safety standards.
    • Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to confirm compliance with drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Tool Operation:
    • Operate manual and powered deburring tools such as files, scrapers, rotary tools, and abrasive pads.
    • Set up and operate specialised equipment like tumblers, vibratory machines, or ultrasonic deburring systems.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct inspections to ensure the final product meets required standards and specifications.
    • Maintain detailed records of work performed and report discrepancies or defects to the supervisor.
  • Safety and Maintenance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Maintain tools and equipment, performing basic repairs or alerting maintenance personnel to issues.
    • Keep the work area clean and organised to promote safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in manufacturing is a plus.
    • Prior experience in deburring, machining, or a related field preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in using hand tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
    • Familiarity with blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Manual handling.
    • Prolonged standing, bending, and manual dexterity required.
    • Comfortable working with small components and performing repetitive tasks.
