Job Description for a Fixed-Term Apprenticeship in BBC Archives, Glasgow. Contract Type: Fixed-Term Apprenticeship, Full-time for 18 months. Location: Glasgow – Pacific Quay. Salary: £22,950.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?
As a Data Analyst apprentice (DAA26) you’ll join a dynamic, collaborative team working on meaningful projects that influence the BBC’s future, with exposure to machine learning, data visualization, and ethical data use. You’ll work in BBC Archives Products and Services, managing archives and making content searchable and accessible.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
You will:
- Data Processing with Pandas
- Data Visualisation
- Power BI and Tableau
- Data Science for Business
- Databases & SQL
- Text Mining
- Introduction to Machine Learning
- Time Series Analysis
- Data Privacy, Ethics & Regulations
You’ll study for your industry-recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. You’ll spend at least one day a week studying for a Level 4 Data Analyst qualification with our external Learning Provider. You will be supported with career development, employability training, and networking opportunities to help you progress within the BBC or elsewhere in the industry.

YOUR SKILLS AND ELIGIBILITY
We’re interested in your passion for the BBC and your enthusiasm for delivering world-class content and operational excellence. We look for potential and transferable strengths rather than requiring specific qualifications. If you can bring these skills and experiences, you may be a strong candidate:
- Love maths and algebra
- Comfortable using Excel
- Enjoy working with data
- Using AI tools for productivity
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Calm and focused under changing circumstances
- Keen interest in the BBC and how audiences consume content
- Enthusiastic self-starter, flexible and adaptable
This scheme is aimed at non-graduates. If you have a degree and are interested in similar roles at the BBC, consider other BBC job postings or apprenticeship schemes.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:
- Be 18 years old or over by September 2026
- Have lived in the UK for the last 3 years prior to start
- Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the duration
- Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship
- Not hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level

- Have maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent
- Have achieved or expected to achieve A Level/Higher Maths by start
