Salary and location: From £31,700; Location: Dumfries Store, Glasgow Road, Dumfries, DG2 9BF; Contract type: Permanent; Business area: Retail; Closing date: 31 July 2026

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team overnight to deliver all replenishment activities across the store whilst prioritising deliveries, organising the warehouse and replenishing shelves.
  • Often, you’ll run a full store operation on your own overnight, being responsible for the full shift and the safety and wellbeing of colleagues in store.
  • Ensuring standards are brilliant come morning so we’re ready to serve our customers.
  • People management as a core part of the role, including performance and capability management, disciplinary processes and ensuring scheduling and pay accuracy.

Our nightshift managers work full-time hours over 4 nights, with a £4,500 premium on top of your base salary. Our nightshifts typically run from 22:00 to 08:00.

Great nightshift manager

  • Comfortable with nightshift work and adaptable to the physical and mental impact, providing a safe and healthy environment for the team.
  • Previous line management experience in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Resilience to the mental and physical demands of working nights.
  • Delivers excellent customer service and coaches the team to do the same.
  • Experience delivering and monitoring KPIs or other performance indicators.
  • Ability to manage disciplinaries, performance issues or other employee relations matters.
  • Leads operations and is comfortable operating independently when senior management is absent.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and diversity in practice.
  • Track record of delivering customer service excellence and coaching others.
  • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with motivated colleagues and smooth operations.
  • Operational leadership skills, including taking responsibility for store operations in the absence of more senior managers.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed KPIs across sales, availability, customer satisfaction or colleague engagement.
  • Experience managing employee relations issues, including performance and absence management.
  • Desirable: Night shift experience in a high-volume, operational environment with a safe, supportive atmosphere for the team during out-of-hours trading.
