Job Role

To safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.
  • Monitor existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.
  • Recommend loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.
  • Develop and implement credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.
  • Advise and influence decision making within own area of expertise.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls related to the work you own or contribute to.
  • Deliver work and areas of responsibility in line with relevant rules, regulation and codes of conduct.
  • Maintain and continually build an understanding of how the sub function integrates with the function and the organisation’s products, services and processes.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of technical experience.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex or sensitive information.
  • Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function, while building a network of contacts inside and outside the organisation.

Expected Skills & Experience

  • In depth technical knowledge and experience in credit risk analysis.
  • Leadership experience or the ability to develop technical expertise as an individual contributor.
  • Proficiency in using AI and technology enabled tools to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in counterparty control and excess management, including reviewing post trade exposures and trade adjustments.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with front office, credit officers, and other internal teams.
  • High levels of attention to detail and diligence when reviewing trades and potential limit breaches.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, supporting real time trade approvals and responding to credit risk hotline queries.
  • Prior credit risk or investment banking experience is highly valued.
  • Exposure to trade approvals or counterparty credit processes is an asset.

Location & Working Patterns

Glasgow only. Working patterns include a 7.30am start, hybrid working days in office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
