Job Description

We’re seeking a reliable, organised cook to run our small staff canteen serving approximately 20 people. You will be responsible for all aspects of the canteen: preparing a cooked lunch each day, supplying a breakfast roll on Fridays, planning weekly menus, purchasing stock, and maintaining cleanliness. Hours are 9am – 3pm (can be flexible to suit the right person).

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a daily cooked lunch for staff.
  • Provide a breakfast roll & lunch on Friday.
  • Plan and produce a weekly menu accommodating basic dietary needs.
  • Order and manage stock, control inventory and minimise waste.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen area and a small sitting/eating area.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and kitchen health & safety standards.

Person specification

  • Previous experience cooking in a small catering or canteen environment.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling (certification preferred).
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple tasks.
  • Friendly, professional attitude with good communication skills.
  • Driving licence and own vehicle is essential.
