Role Overview

Applications are invited for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to be based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. The post is offered on the new Consultant Contract terms and conditions, on a 10 programmed activity basis, although two EPAs may be available. The appointee will participate in the on call rota and become an integral part of the urological services delivered across NHS Highland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all major urological surgery, including robotic procedures, pelvic oncology and upper and lower tract surgery.
  • Lead one stop clinics and specialist investigations to streamline patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and support rural general hospitals with diagnostic and surgical services.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision of undergraduate, postgraduate and clinical trainees.
  • Engage in research, audit and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of the anticipated award of a CCT at interview.
  • Experience and interest in urological surgery, with particular strength in robotics, pelvic oncology, or diagnostic techniques such as trans perineal biopsy.
  • Ability to work within a portfolio based career structure and negotiate job plans to accommodate teaching, research, and humanitarian work.
