A leading environmental and ecological consultancy is seeking a Consultant or Senior Ornithologist to join its growing team. Your new role

As a Consultant or Senior Ornithologist, you will play a key role in delivering ornithological surveys, assessments and technical advice across a range of projects throughout the UK.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and undertaking ornithological field surveys, including breeding bird, wintering bird and vista point surveys.
  • Producing technical reports including survey reports, impact assessments and ecological appraisals.
  • Providing ornithological advice to clients and project teams.
  • Supporting projects through the planning and development process.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and client expectations (Senior level).
  • Supporting junior staff through mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Working collaboratively with ecologists and environmental specialists across multidisciplinary projects.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A degree in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering ornithological surveys and assessments within the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, policy and guidance relating to birds.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Experience working within consultancy or a commercial ecological environment.
  • Membership of CIEEM or a relevant professional body (desirable).
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
