Basic Salary: £111,430 – £148,064 per annum pro rata + 5% on call availability supplement.

The Role – We are seeking Consultant General Paediatrician(s) to join the combined Child Health Department of NHS Borders. Candidates may be general paediatricians with special interests or community paediatricians with general and on call experience.

There are multiple part time posts available. The post is based at the modern and well equipped 284 bed Borders General Hospital, playing a major role in services for children in the community. We have established links with the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and opportunities for joint working, as well as close undergraduate and postgraduate links with the University of Edinburgh Medical School.

The Hospital has implemented an innovative Paediatric Hospital at Night redesign. Our first call resident cover is provided by experienced Paediatric and Neonatal Nurse Advanced Practitioners supported by consultants within a minimum recall time.

The hospital is located in a rural setting with excellent schools, abundant local amenities and good transport links to Edinburgh. Superb local leisure facilities and good quality affordable housing provide an ideal opportunity for a high quality of life in this scenic part of the country. A relocation package up to full Inland Revenue limits is available for successful candidates relocating to the local area.

In a new service development, NHS Borders will offer all newly appointed consultants executive coaching with a trained coach, intended to develop your own leadership style and effective decision making.

• Candidates must hold MRCP or equivalent certificate (e.g., MRCPH for current trainees) and must be fully registered with the General Medical Council on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of entry at interview date.
