Job Title: Commissioning Engineer – Transmission Substation Project

Duration: Approx. 7 weeks (350 hours total)
Hours: 10 hours per day / 50 hours per week

The Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support works on a major transmission substation project in Beauly.
This role will focus heavily on protection relay testing within 132kV-275kV substations, working within a live HV transmission environment on a critical UK infrastructure scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out commissioning and testing of protection and control systems
- Perform protection relay testing on 132kV-275kV substations.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in line with project specifications and standards
- Work closely with site teams, engineers, and supervisors to deliver works safely and efficiently
- Complete commissioning documentation and test records accurately
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within transmission substations
- Strong background in protection relay testing (132kV-275kV)
- Experience working on live National Grid / SSEN / transmission environments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and relay schemes
- Strong understanding of commissioning procedures and safety standards
Certifications & Authorisations:
- SSEN C1 Authorisation (preferred)
- National Grid / SSEN / DNO authorisations
- Substation access certifications (BESC, Persons, etc.)
- Pay: 90/Hour
- Additional Information:
- No travel or per diem included
- Standard compliance checks may apply
