Location: Canderside Depot, 1 Carlisle Road, Birkenshaw, Larkhall, ML9 2GA
Hours: 35 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday – Thursday 8:45am – 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am – 4:15pm
Salary: £33,468 – £38,779 annual salary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual to join our Construction Unit within Roads and Transportation Services. The successful candidate will support the delivery and monitoring of both capital and revenue works programmes by providing technical and operational assistance across a range of construction activities. Applicants should have knowledge and experience of a road construction environment, with desirable experience in site supervision, measurement, record keeping, and operational delivery within a roads or construction setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the supervision and monitoring of construction works
- Supporting the preparation of estimates, basic work packages and associated documentation
- Ensuring compliance with on site health and safety requirements
- Demonstrating awareness of traffic management systems
- Providing high quality customer service and confidently addressing site related issues
- Working collaboratively as part of a specialist team within the Construction Unit
Qualifications
You should be able to work effectively under pressure, meet specified deadlines, and contribute positively to the wider team’s objectives. It is desirable that candidates hold an NC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), or possess significant relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications. A current driving licence is essential, as travel throughout the Council area will be required. An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required for applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past ten years; the check must be translated into English and include an official statement confirming no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
