CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW POST IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Terms and Duration

12 month fixed term (40 hours plus banding) 5th August 2026 – 3rd August 2027 or 6 month fixed term (16 hours plus banding) 5th August 2026 – 2nd February 2027. Up to two posts are available.

Salary

£49,217 – £77,389 per annum plus banding supplement.

Location

Based at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Applications are invited for Clinical Development Fellow posts in Obstetrics and Gynaecology starting on the 5th August 2026, for a period of 6 or 12 months. These posts are based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and are aimed at those doctors who have recently completed their foundation programme or core training.

The posts will afford successful candidates the opportunity to gain experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, along with protected and mentored development time. As well as clinical activities, the department is involved in undergraduate teaching with both the University of Edinburgh and the ScotGEM programme. There will be opportunity for candidates to develop their teaching portfolio. Obstetrics and gynaecology has an established history of clinical audit and risk management, and candidates will be encouraged to support the department in its ongoing clinical risk programmes. We also welcome individual development projects that will complement the work of the department tailored to the individual interest of the successful candidate(s).

The successful candidate(s) will be contracted for up to 48 hours per week: 40 hours per week on average including out of hours commitment and undertaking elective clinical activities; 8 hours per week on average protected for developmental activities. The post holder(s) will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience. A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will be paid in addition to the basic salary for 40 hours.
