Civil Technician – Roads & Civil Infrastructure

First People Solutions is working with a well-established and highly respected consulting engineer that is seeking a Civil Technician to join their team in Edinburgh.
Our client is a large, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions on complex projects across the UK. Their extensive portfolio spans local and national infrastructure, covering disciplines including geo-environmental, transportation, structures, renewables, and water services.
The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for producing high-quality designs, drawings, models, and technical documentation for roads and drainage schemes across a diverse range of engaging projects. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to successfully deliver projects from concept through to detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual and detailed designs for infrastructure, highway, and energy projects
- Develop and maintain accurate 2D and 3D models and drawings
- Produce drainage and ancillary designs in accordance with relevant standards
- Support the development and mentoring of junior engineering staff within the team
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and graduates throughout project delivery
Requirements
- HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3-6 years of experience working within a design engineering environment
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, and other relevant software
- Experience producing highway design drawings, including geometric design, drainage, and ancillary elements
- Ability to deliver accurate and well-presented technical drawings
