Anderson Knight are currently partnering with a well established accountancy practice in Motherwell to recruit a skilled and reliable Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in bookkeeping who is looking to develop their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day to day bookkeeping for a variety of clients
- Preparation of VAT returns and ensuring compliance with VAT legislation
- Processing invoices, expenses, and payments
- Reconciliation of bank statements and general ledger
- Assisting with management accounts preparation
- Maintaining accurate financial records and updating accounting software
- Liaising with clients to provide updates and address queries
- Supporting the senior accountants with month end and year end processes
- Ensuring adherence to deadlines and accuracy in all tasks
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice or similar environment
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage preferred)
- Strong understanding of VAT and tax compliance
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable, but not essential
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
