About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join British Dressage (BD) in the important role of Development Officer for Scotland. Working from home, but involving extensive travel across the country, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our competition and training throughout Scotland, promoting and developing British Dressage in the region.

The Development Officer is responsible for co ordinating and organising activity in the Scotland region, in line with the strategy and policies agreed by BD’s Technical Committees and Board of Directors. We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and energetic team player, with excellent organisational, inter personal and communication skills. You will need to be independent, proactive, and self motivated, ideally with an in depth knowledge of dressage.

Reporting into the Regional and Volunteer Manager, the individual in this role will work closely with, and under the direction of, the volunteer Regional Committee for Scotland, which includes a Chairperson and representatives for coaches, riders, judges, para dressage, youth, and marketing. The individual in this role will be the main point of contact for all stakeholders in the region, so a highly personal and diplomatic approach is required, with strong relationship management skills.

British Dressage has ambitious plans for the future, and you will play a central part in delivering a range of dynamic initiatives in this thriving region. This busy and varied position requires a flexible approach to working, managing conflicting priorities, often with tight deadlines. Evening and weekend work is an essential aspect of the role, including overnight stays away from home.

Candidates will be required to be based within the region, have a full driving license and access to their own car for travel. As the role is home based, a suitable working environment and good internet access is essential, along with high standards of computer literacy and extensive experience of Microsoft Office.
