The role:
Specialist Biomedical Scientist working within the Haematology/Blood Transfusion Department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Laboratories in Glasgow. The post is at AFC Band 6 and requires HCPC registration. The role involves contributing to a UKAS accredited service that complies with MHRA Blood Safety and Quality Regulations.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Laboratories, Glasgow (Haematology Department).
Hours: 36 hours per week.
Work pattern: Participation in a 7 day shift system, including evenings, weekends and overnight duties once fully trained.
Key responsibilities
- Working as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist within Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
- Participating in a shift rota to support 24/7 service needs.
- Maintaining compliance with UKAS accreditation standards and MHRA Blood Safety and Quality Regulations.
- Engaging in continuing professional development (CPD).
- Contributing to a high quality diagnostic service within the department.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Specialist-level training and competence in Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion.
- Previous experience in a Haematology/Blood Transfusion laboratory is highly desirable.
