Job Description

Bid Manager Civil Engineering

Glasgow-Based UK-Wide Projects
Permanent Full-Time Office-Based
Salary – up to £75,000 plus car, pension and annual bonus

Step off-site and into strategy.

Are you a Contracts Manager, Site Agent, Pre-Construction Manager, or Design Engineer/Manager looking to transition from site or technical delivery into a more strategic, office-based role?

This could be your ideal next move.

Our client a long-established and growing civil engineering contractor with a strong brand and decades of successful project delivery is looking to appoint a Bid Manager to drive the development of high-quality, technically robust and commercially competitive tender submissions.

This isn t a traditional bid writing role. Instead, you ll be a key player in the pre-construction process, using your real-world project knowledge to help win work across a diverse portfolio that includes:

  • Windfarms

  • Battery storage facilities

  • Flood and coastal protection schemes

  • Substation projects

  • General civil engineering works

What you ll be doing:

  • Lead and manage the bid process from enquiry through to submission

  • Work collaboratively with commercial, technical, and operational teams to shape content

  • Use your on-site or design experience to develop realistic, deliverable solutions

  • Coordinate submission documents, supported by in-house bid/graphics resources

  • Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and strengthen relationships

  • Support post-tender reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Who this would suit:

The business is open-minded on background whether you come from contracting or consultancy, if you’ve been involved in pre-construction, design coordination, contract delivery, or project strategy, this could be a great fit.

Ideally, you ll have:

  • A solid understanding of civil engineering project delivery and commercial dynamics

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

  • An interest in moving away from site delivery into a more strategic, planning-focused role

  • Chartered status is welcomed but not essential

Why join?

  • Work with a highly respected leadership team and some of the best civil engineers in the sector

  • Join a business with a strong brand and a consistent record of success

  • Step into a pivotal role where your experience shapes the projects you help win

  • Enjoy the support of a collaborative and professional office-based environment
