We are seeking skilled and motivated Auto Electrician to join our growing team. You’ll play a key role in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on rail vehicles, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on rail vehicles, including lighting, control circuits, and power distribution.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and schematics.
  • Wire, terminate, and test electrical components such as relays, sensors, and control panels.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Support upgrades and modifications to rolling stock electrical systems.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical fitters, engineers, and supervisors to meet project and maintenance targets.
  • Maintain accurate job records and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Auto Electrical.
  • Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, ideally within the rail, heavy vehicle, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, diagnostics, and fault finding.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience working to rail industry standards
  • Knowledge of train control and communication systems.

Familiarity with PLCs, wiring looms, and modular electrical assemblies.
