Job Description

The Audit Senior role based in Southend involves leading audit assignments for a varied client portfolio within a well-established accountancy practice. This full time, permanent position offers a salary between £40,000 and £50,000 per annum. Key duties include planning and executing audits, supervising junior staff, and preparing financial statements. The working pattern blends onsite client visits, office collaboration, and hybrid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading audits from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Supervising and supporting junior team members on audit assignments.
  • Preparing and reviewing audit working papers in line with UK auditing standards.
  • Liaising directly with clients to gather information and resolve audit queries.
  • Identifying risk areas and ensuring audits are delivered efficiently and accurately.
  • Preparing draft financial statements and supporting audit files for manager review.
  • Assisting with the development and training of junior staff.
  • Building strong client relationships and acting as a key point of contact on site.
  • Supporting managers and partners with ad hoc assignments and technical queries.

Qualifications

  • ACA or ACCA qualified or part qualified with strong audit experience in practice.
  • Proven experience working on external audit assignments from planning to completion.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and auditing standards.
  • Confident in leading small audit teams and supervising junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and client facing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Proactive, detail oriented, and eager to progress within practice.
