Job Description

The role:

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Charge Nurse teams within Critical Care and Theatres. The role involves a variety of administrative duties, including audio typing and preparing patient clinical correspondence and medical letters on behalf of doctors, ensuring documentation is accurate, professional, and produced within required timescales.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, Part-time – 20.40 hours per week

Shift pattern – Monday to Friday

Base location – North Sector based, Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to Senior Charge Nurse teams.
  • Carry out a range of day-to-day administrative duties.
  • Audio type clinical correspondence and medical letters.
  • Prepare patient-related documentation on behalf of medical staff.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, professional, and completed within required timescales.
  • Support the smooth and efficient running of the service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven administrative skills and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a varied and busy healthcare environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation.

Desirable criteria

  • Audiotyping
  • SSTS – Payroll Management System
  • All Microsoft Office 365 applications – including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams/ SharePoint and MS Outlook (e-mail)
  • Experience using Printers/Scanners
  • Electronic Patient Information Systems e.g. Clinical Portal, TrakCare, Carevue
  • HR Portal
  • File Management – Personnel Files/Electronic Filing
