About the role
This role will cover the Central belt of Scotland. You will be part of the Spectrum Assurance team within the wider Ofcom Spectrum Group. Spectrum Assurance consists of Spectrum Engineering Officers (SEOs) who manage specific geographical areas and the Spectrum Management Centre in Hertfordshire. SEOs provide advice and assistance to licensed spectrum users and undertake compliance action to resolve interference issues. They also monitor and investigate improper spectrum use.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high radio/spectrum engineering standards and ensure all harmful interference issues raised are resolved within KPIs.
- Investigate all unlicensed radio spectrum use within the geographical area and resolve them within KPIs.
- Plan targeted proactive radio monitoring to ensure licence compliance.
- Conduct proactive inspection of a wide range of radio equipment to ensure licence compliance and adherence to associated technical specifications.
- Support large sporting events that rely on radio services, such as The Open Golf Championship and the G26 Commonwealth Games.
- Provide support and collaboration to colleagues and assist when required.
- Manage own equipment, plant, and vehicle at professional standard, including finances and H&S (full equipment and vehicle will be provided).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Technical qualification – HNC/D in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
- Full driver’s licence.
- Experience in radio engineering and knowledge of radio spectrum.
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed team.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship and customer focus skills.
- Capability to deliver performance, KPI’s and service levels.
- Strong people skills – delivering difficult conversations and interacting with stakeholders for interference casework.
