£14.00 per hour (Time and a half for hours worked over 40 per week)

Job Vacancy: Assistant Saw Doctor / Setter

Location: Balblair Road, Nairn IV12 5LY

Hours: 12:00-20:00, Monday to Friday

Job Type: Full-time

We are currently recruiting for an assistant Saw doctor and Knife setter. This would be a semi skilled role, mainly tipping saws, knife sharpening, and setting on cutting machines.

We are a family run business operating a busy sawmilling site with over 160 years’ experience in the industry. We continue to invest in the latest technology and equipment and importantly, our employees. Continuous employee development is a priority for the company.

About The Role

Applicants should have sound mechanical skills (or skills and experience which could be adapted to this environment) and a strong Health & Safety work ethic. Previous experience in a sawmill environment or related skills would be preferable. They must support the current saw doctor in all duties, work with the production team, and ensure equipment availability. They must also possess good communication and interpersonal skills, work as part of a team or independently, and complete tasks safely and professionally. Training will be provided.

Skills and Experience Required

• A sound mechanical background
• Experience working on and preparing saw machinery
• Welding and braising preferable
• Follow PPM schedules
• Ability to work safely, under pressure, in a production environment
