Job Title:Assistant Manager
Store: Bob and Berts Stirling
Job Type:Full-time (incl. weekends/early mornings)
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise Staff:Lead baristas and staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of customer service and product quality.
- Training & Development:Train new hires on barista skills, coffee preparation, POS systems, and shop policies.
- Motivate & Coach:Foster a positive work environment, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
- Scheduling:Assist the manager in creating staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage, particularly during peak hours.
Operational Management
- Day-to-Day Operations:Manage daily opening/closing procedures and ensure the store is clean, well-presented, and fully operational.
- Inventory Management:Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and conduct regular inventory counts to minimize waste.
- Equipment Maintenance:Ensure coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment are maintained and serviced as needed.
- Safety Compliance:Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Customer Service & Sales
- Customer Excellence:Build relationships with customers and resolve complaints or concerns promptly.
- Driving Sales:Implement marketing initiatives, promote special offers, and drive sales targets.
- Product Knowledge:Maintain expert knowledge of our coffee, tea, and food menu to make recommendations.
Financial & Administrative Tasks
- Cash Handling:Oversee cash management, till balancing, and daily bank deposits.
- Financial Reporting:Assist with reporting on daily sales and KPIs, helping to manage labour costs and expenses.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience:2+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry (coffee shop/cafe preferred).
- Barista Skills:Strong hands on knowledge of espresso brewing, milk steaming, and latte art.
- Leadership:Proven capability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team.
- Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility:Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Strength:Capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy items (e.g., milk crates, coffee bags).
