Apprentice HGV Mechanic – Alness

Working Hours: Full time – 39 hours minimum per week (7am to 5pm, Mon to Fri). The company reserves the right to alter shift patterns to suit workload, with a minimum notice of 1 week. Additional hours, including weekend work, may be required during periods of high demand.

Salary: In accordance with the SBATC annual apprenticeship rates and/or National Minimum Wage rates.

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Pat Munro Team as Apprentice HGV Mechanic, based at Caplich Quarry Alness. This full time, 4 year fixed term role will develop your skills in efficient and effective repair, maintenance, servicing, and testing of the company plant and vehicle fleet.

Working within the Garage department, you will undertake a full Level 3 Apprenticeship training course involving block release workshops, onsite assessments, and building a portfolio of evidence, achieving a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) at Level 3 (Maintenance and Repair).

Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Interest in vehicle mechanics and enthusiasm to develop experience and undertake training.
  • Holding a valid driving licence.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Conscientious with a solid work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills – verbal, listening and written.

Entry Requirements

One higher pass in either maths or physics is preferred but not essential. Evidence of a practical aptitude (e.g., significant work experience) may also be considered.
