Application Specialist – Asset Applications

Our Client is seeking an Application Specialist for a 12 month contract PAYE role based in Aberdeen, reporting to the Applications Team Lead. The role blends Business Analysis, Application SME duties and project management responsibilities across a portfolio of corporate asset applications.

Role Overview

The position will support the change and optimisation agenda for a range of operated asset applications, ensuring solutions are stable, compliant, supportable and deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structured discovery with process owners and SMEs to define scope, objectives and success measures.
  • Translate business requirements into high quality functional designs and document user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain end to end traceability from requirements through testing and release.
  • Shape and manage backlogs, delivery roadmaps and coordinate delivery with AMS providers and application vendors.
  • Own UAT planning, execution, readiness activities, cutover and hypercare.
  • Support training, communications and adoption activities.
  • Track and articulate benefits realisation post implementation.
  • Act as functional SME for the application portfolio, ensuring clean handover to BAU with up to date documentation.
  • Maintain support models, runbooks, operational procedures and interface with AMS providers and ISVs.
  • Prioritise backlog items, review estimates and delivery plans and support management of SOWs, SLAs, KPIs and Service Improvement Plans.
  • Ensure consistent standards across delivery, documentation and support.
  • Lead integration outcomes across APIs, middleware, batch and file interfaces.
  • Define monitoring, error handling and reconciliation approaches with AMS teams.
  • Champion data quality, reporting enablement and interface documentation.
  • Embed non functional requirements such as performance, availability, security and supportability.
  • Ensure appropriate controls such as SoD, JML, GDPR and audit controls are embedded and maintain audit ready documentation.
  • Coordinate with Information Risk, Security and Architecture teams on risk management and remediation.

Role Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Business Analyst, Application Specialist or Application SME.
  • Proven delivery of application enhancements, upgrades and integrations in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with applications supporting production lines such as Hydrocarbon Accounting, HSSE and Control of Work.
  • Experience working with AMS providers and third party vendors.
  • Solid understanding of system integrations (APIs, middleware, batch/file interfaces).
  • Strong documentation discipline and data quality mindset.
  • Experience operating within ITIL based service models and formal PMO governance.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and/or PRINCE2 delivery approaches.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
