Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Stocken, a category C prison located in Oakham.

HMP Stocken consists of 1,285 adult males. You will be based in the Healthcare department and required to visit prison wings.

Hours

  • Monday – Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8:00am – 4:00pm

Salary

Annual salary between £59,667 and £66,792 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job

  • Need expert clinical skills and demonstrate judgment in assessing and managing wide-ranging and complex patient problems.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team made up of registered and non-registered professionals, including mental health and substance misuse practitioners.
  • Act as a role model ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times; support senior clinicians on site and be part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients.
  • As a clinical expert in your field, work with the team to ensure patient safety, the management of complex cases and ensure the most up-to-date treatment methodology is applied to patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse – NMC registration only
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Masters in Advanced Practice or equivalent
  • Recognised prescribing qualification
  • Understanding of the complexities of multidisciplinary and multi agency working
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, evidence-based practice and national standards

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
