The role

As an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert, patient centred care within a dynamic Critical Care environment at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will manage complex patient pathways with a high level of autonomy, leading on assessment, diagnosis and treatment. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

• Based between Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital
• Full Time, Permanent
• 36 hours per week, rotational days/nights/weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for critically ill patients across a range of clinical settings
• Work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to manage complex patient care pathways
• Initiate, interpret, and act on diagnostic investigations to inform clinical decision making
• Prescribe pharmacological and non pharmacological treatments in line with advanced practice competencies
• Provide clinical leadership support and expert advice to nursing and wider healthcare teams
• Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to service development, research, and audit
• Facilitate safe admission, discharge, and referral of patients while ensuring high standards of evidence based care

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required

• Registered Nurse with the NMC or Registered Physiotherapist with the HCPC with significant critical care experience
• Evidence of advanced clinical practice development, including or working towards a Master’s level qualification
• Independent prescribing qualification V300 or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe
• Demonstrable experience of autonomous clinical decision making and managing complex patient needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to continuous professional development and participation in education, research and audit activities
• Ability to work flexibly across rotational shifts, including days, nights and weekends in a high acuity environment
