Community Learning Disability Charge Nurse – Overview

Applications are invited for the full time position of Community Learning Disability Charge Nurse in the Learning Disability Additional Support Team (AST) based at the Red Lodge, Larbert.

The Additional Support Team are recruiting a full time, highly motivated and experienced Band 6 registered nurse who holds a National Nursing Council (NMC) pin. Experience in forensic issues and crisis intervention would be advantageous. Knowledge of mental health, autism and a trauma informed approach is also highly desirable. Training or a commitment to undertake recognised psychological intervention, forensic and crisis interventions is required.

Each post holder will be accountable to the Learning Disability AST Team Lead.

The post holder works in partnership to promote care planning and risk management for people with learning disabilities who may offend, enabling inclusion and choice, independence and rights within legal frameworks. The role carries a caseload within forensic and crisis specialities of the Additional Support Team.

Case load management, acting as an autonomous practitioner and working across teams and services are essential. Evidence of experience or professional development in leadership and collaborative working is desirable. Knowledge of policy trends and legislation within learning disability health and social care is required.

IT skills and a willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery are essential.

Registered as a Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) on the National Nursing Council is essential. The successful candidate must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on the scheme can be found at .

Working Hours

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

NHS Forth Valley may be able to offer sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and any other required criteria. If you are currently working in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa, transitional arrangements may apply. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case by case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre employment checks.

Qualifications and Experience
